Our Mission

We are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of underserved communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. By providing accessible healthcare services, essential resources, and sustainable support systems, we strive to address critical needs and drive lasting, meaningful change. Our mission is rooted in compassion, equity, and a deep commitment to empowering individuals and communities to take charge of their health. Through strategic partnerships, community-driven initiatives, and ongoing education, we work to create a future where every person has the opportunity to lead a healthier, more resilient life.

Our Vision

Lady Cordelia Adaure Anyasodo was a pillar of the local community, devoted to serving others selflessly.

In 2013, Belinda Anyasodo founded Lady Adaure Outreach Foundation, Inc. in memory of her late mother and as a call to action. At the time, she was working on her dissertation in a public health program when she witnessed the profound impact even small grassroots efforts had on rural communities in Central America. Inspired by the belief that if others could make a difference in their communities, so could she, she took action. Just weeks later, LAOF held its first health fair, an event rooted in a simple yet powerful principle that continues to guide the organization today: Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right, regardless of one’s ability to pay.

LAOF is led by Lady Adaure’s daughters and their families, who host our annual health fairs and drive the organization’s mission forward. By combining our unique skills and passions, we each play a vital role in shaping LAOF. Whether it’s fostering community relations by serving as a voice for our neighbors or providing hands-on support for daily operations, our family remains deeply involved in every aspect of the work we do. As a family-funded organization, we also rely on the generosity of donors who contribute their resources and time, helping us meet the needs of the communities we serve.

Where We Operate

LAOF operates in Obazu village, Mbieri, Imo State, Nigeria—the home and final resting place of Lady Adaure. Nigeria’s healthcare system faces significant challenges, including high mortality rates, limited access to care, and a severe lack of resources.

Obazu is a close-knit community, united by faith and family ties. The majority of residents are Anglicans, followed closely by other Christian denominations, and many work as day laborers, farmers, or in other manual trades. Despite these strong community bonds, basic infrastructure remains inadequate. Many residents still lack running water, reliable electricity, and access to essential healthcare services. With the Nigerian federal government allocating only about 1.5% of its budget to healthcare, nearly 70% of medical services are provided by private organizations like ours.

LAOF is committed not only to hosting impactful health fairs but also to delivering a comprehensive public health approach. We prioritize education on preventive care, equipping residents with practical strategies using the resources available to them.

No matter the initiative, we remain unwavering in our promise. All our services are provided at no cost to the patients—always.

For many in Obazu, our health fairs are their only opportunity for routine medical care, underscoring the urgent need for sustained healthcare access in the community.
