"People are dying in Nigeria due to the lack of basic healthcare services that we take for granted here in the United States.I saw a need in my own hometown, and I am not willing to stay silent any longer."

ABOUT LAOF

Lady Adaure Outreach Foundation, or as we like to call it, LAOF (Lau-Auf) was founded in 2013 by Belinda Anyasodo and her daughter Desirée Anyasodo. Belinda's family home is in Obazu, Imo State, Nigeria. Her father, Bennett Anyasodo, was a pillar in the community, even working with the Red Cross. Her mother, Cordelia Adaure, juggled raising 7 children, and serving as a community leader to impact lives. She passed away at the premature age of 59 from complications of diabetes. Although Cordelia's death came unexpectedly, it was highly preventable had there been access to proper healthcare. In addition to losing her mother prematurely, Belinda has also lost two of her sisters to preventable medical complications. Belinda's case is not isolated, and many people in Nigeria can relate to losing loved ones to minor illnesses at the hands of subpar healthcare. LAOF's name is in memory of Belinda's mother, and her sisters. They are not here with us today, but their names and legacies live on.

Belinda is a registered nurse, and has always had a philanthropic heart. While she loves helping others in the United States, she knows charity begins at home, and there is indeed a need at home. Even today, many residents of Obazu are without running water, steady electricity, and access to basic healthcare services and over the counter medications. Belinda and Desirée strive to not only treat local residents of Obazu, but also educate them on preventative measures they can take using the resources they have. LAOF promises to provide annual checkups, vitamins and other over the counter medications, and consultations by licensed physicians at no costs to the patients - ever.

   CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.
